Unchecked Imperialism
It is getting harder for America to cover up its lies.
We've gone back to one of our favorite pastimes: overthrowing a government or replacing leadership to match U.S. interests. By "U.S. interests," we all know by now that means in the "interest of capitalism." We must be careful not to confuse America's conquests with any real expansion of democracy.
Yet it has been interesting to watch this administrations supporters jump on social media and in headlines to back track the president's words of "running Venezuela." Of course, like usual, they say his words are "exaggerated" or "not really what he means to say." It's almost comical, the amount of gaslighting, citizens receive on a constant basis. Nonetheless, the actions of America taking over Venezuela were foretold from jokes on the campaign trail where people cheered and laughed:
In the end, I hope this administration can explain to the American people why Maduro is beholden to American law, when he is not a citizen. Better yet just answer these few questions that the media is scared to ask:
- Does America hold so much power in the world, that government officials can go through an American process of convening a grand jury to indict the leader of a different country?
- Shouldn't ICE be invading federal buildings to deport him back to Venezuela?
- Where is all the talk about saving taxpayer dollars?
Unchecked imperialism, anyone? 👀
